Chance for moving Periar statue spoiled

There is tension in Tamil Nadu over the desecration of Periar EVR statue in Srirangam, a holy city of Hindu religious people, because the statue is to be unveiled opposite to the Rajagopuram of the temple. The permission was given in 1973 to Periar Self Respect Campaign movement to install the statue opposite to the police station and 144 square feet land was allotted. However it took 33 years to install the statue there. Hindu religious people oppose this move to install the statue there, saying that Periar was an aethist and installing the statue infront of a temple is causing disrespect to him. However, the schedule to unveil the statue by K. Veermani, President of Dravidar Kazhagam, a movement founded by the late Periar. The function is scheduled for December 16, 2006.

There was a scope for shifting the place, if Hindu religious leaders approached the organisers and tried to convince them. But, the desecration of the statue installed and drapped in clothes by some miscreants had apparently closed the door for it. Irrated by the desecration of their leader's statue, who had brought self respect to the downtrodden people of the State, opposite camp people started indulging in attacks on Hindu worship places. So, this has become Law and Order problem of the State now.

However, DK had announced that a conference would be held on December 16 to create `awareness about the myth of the people in the name of God.' They had replaced the statue with new bronze statue. So, they seem to be not relenting from their plan. If they choose to shift the statue from there, they feel that it would be construed as they did so due to fear of the desecration. So, the chances of shifting the statue from there is meagre.

When some miscreants take some decision in haste, their ultimate aim is defeated. It is to be seen whether the Hindu leaders can convince the organisers to shift the statue from there.

Those read this blog post ur comments - whether this problem might have been settled amicably in easy way - and is there any possible solution to this.

why media failed in Tamilnadu election?

Tamilnadu issues

Tamilnadu had witnessed a keen battle between fronts led by DMK and AIADMK. Most of the media joined hands with AIADMK front. They wanted Ms. Jayalalitha to come back to power. The entire media except few were against DMK front. It was for 2 reasons. One - they did not want the monopoly of Sun TV. Two - they were against the acquisition of Dinakaran, a tamil daily by sun network group. Dinakaran is being sold at rs.1 now. So, if dmk came to power their monopoly will grow - that was the thinking of the entire media. Hence they opposed DMK. But they had failed in their attempt to prevent DMK from coming to power.

Why ?

The media published news items about Jayalalitha possitively. We can say that media glorified the campaign of Jaya. But it was not enough. They had failed to bring out the mistakes of 13 Union ministers from Tamilnadu, who belong to DMK led front. All of the ministers knowingly or unknowingly must have done some mistakes in their departments. Media should have brought out and highlighted them.

On one side they should have tarnished the image of DMK led front and simultaneously projected Jaya's achievements.

But they had not pointed out the mistakes of the Union ministers. This seems to be the reason for the failure of media .

Which gold is pure?

Sunday (April 30, 2006) is Akshaya Thiruthiayi day. Hindu religious people like to buy gold on this day, which is considered to be auspicious. They believe that if they get some gold on the day, they will get more wealth throughout the year. OK. This is the success of the gold merchants. They have managed to draw more crowds on this day.

But, are u sure that the gold u r buying is pure? Which is pure gold? Can u believe that all Hallmark gold ornaments are pure?

To some extent Yes. But, here also u may be cheated. Because u might have seen 916 gold as pure. But there are 5 other hallmarks. 916 means the gold is 22 carat. 375 is 9 carat, 585 is 14 carat, 750 is 18 carat, 875 is 21 carat, 958 is 23 carat. So, if the seller has got 750 hallmark approval, your gold is only 18 carat. So, ensure the quality u need.

What is this number 916? If u divide one gram gold into 1000 units, u will get 916 units of pure gold.
Before u buy gold, ask the seller about the fineness, 916 or someother number.
Again your seller might have got hallmark approval for bangle or ring or few items only. So, don't think that all the items are hallmark approved. So, look for the hallmark logo on every item u buy. Ofcourse, the logo would be small enough so that u can not see it easily. Ask for the lens. It is mandatory for the seller to provide lens to customers when they ask.

Again, what will happen, the quality differs? If u have any doubt about the quality after buying it, u can go to the labs approved by Bureau of Indian Standards. If the result differs from the assurances u have got, u can approach BIS. They will arrange to get adequate compensation. The site is bis.org.in

I hope this message is useful not only to my hindu friends but also to all the public who buy gold.
